In addition to being passionate about my work, I enjoy creative writing, playing with my pets, and travelling with my kids. Here you'll find more about me professionally and if you scroll all the way to the bottom, you can learn a little bit more about me personally.
Ever since I watchd my older brother setting up LAN parties with his friends, I've been fascinated with the relationship between games and learning. When introduced to a co-op board game, I got this idea about a similar setup where teams could engage in co-op experiences facing work situations to learn to work better together. I come up with a lot of ideas but as is always the case for creatives, some ideas must germinate longer than others. I've had a great time implementing several of my ideas for clients and employers.
In addition to gamification and current projects, I keep thinking about AI. I have played with it personally and I have found that it helps me iterate on my ideas much quicker than I could have done without it. I'm not using it to generate content from the rest of the world, I'm using it to fuel content generation within my own mind. It will be fascinating to see how using AI transforms our world but I think it will be more interesting to see how it transforms us individually and how we engage with our own thinking process.
I always have a few books that I'm jumping between (in addition to podcasts I'm listening to--my current favorite podcaster is Tim Ferriss by the way).
In business books I'm reading Master of Change by Brad Sulberg.
In leisure books I'm reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.
And with my kids I'm reading Starsight by Brandon Sanderson.
This year I got to take my kids to North Carolina to meet their great-grandma and then we road-tripped over to Indianapolis to see the total eclipse. It was spectacular to see the total eclipse and a fun follow-up from the 2023 annular eclipse that we caught as well.
This spring my bengal-lynx cat had kittens. They're 8 weeks old now and developing into proper rascals. We're snuggling them and loving them as much as we can before we send them off to their forever-homes in a month or so.
